As Oklahomans, we will spend about $2.6 billion in state funds on roads and bridges in fiscal year 2026. Adding federal funds brings that number closer to $4 billion. For Oklahoma, this is a critical investment: our state’s economic growth and quality of life depend on reliable, modern infrastructure.

From highways and bridges to the systems that support commerce and daily travel, strong transportation networks are essential to both businesses and families.

Why Transportation Matters to Businesses and Families

For employers, efficient infrastructure directly impacts productivity and profitability. Companies depend on safe, reliable roads to move goods, connect with customers, and access new markets. Families rely on transportation systems for everything from commuting to work and school to traveling safely across our state.

When infrastructure lags, the costs are real—longer travel times, higher vehicle maintenance expenses, and barriers to attracting new investment in Oklahoma.

A Record of Legislative Progress

During my 12 years in the Legislature, Oklahoma made a major commitment to repairing structurally deficient bridges. In that time, we went from having over 900 structurally deficient bridges to just 35 as of August 2025. That transformation reflects a true commitment to a safe and reliable transportation system.

The Ongoing Work Ahead

While much progress has been made, challenges remain:

This work is about more than short-term fixes—it’s about creating a roadmap for the next generation of Oklahomans.

Looking Ahead

Infrastructure is not just a government responsibility—it is a shared investment in our future. By continuing to modernize our transportation systems, we strengthen Oklahoma’s economy, enhance public safety, and ensure our state remains an attractive place for businesses and families alike.
